On behalf of the Fellows of the DFW Chapter of the Society of Information Management I am very pleased to announce that Blake Holman has been selected as the newest member of the DFW Chapter Fellows.  Please join me in congratulating him on this wonderful honor.

Blake joined our chapter in May of 2006.  In 2012 he volunteered for and was accepted onto the Chapter’s Board as the Sponsorship Committee Chair.  He continued to offer his time and insight as the Program Chair (2014-2016) and as the Vice-President of the Chapter (2017-2018).

His employment path then took him to Austin, Texas, where he also served locally in the Austin Chapter while at the same time maintaining his DFW Chapter membership.  Earlier this year he returned to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area (lucky us!) with a new opportunity to add to his notable career.

His other significant contributions to our discipline and to SIM include:

  • Leader of the SIM Cybersecurity Special Interest Group (SIG) – 2017
  • Featured speaker for several cyber-security and Digital Risk SIGs – 2019-present
  • Advisory Board member for the NTTC since its inception in 2019
  • Member of the team that re-established the RLF program back in Texas this year (and he was the RLF Liaison for the Austin Chapter for this same effort)
  • Author of the book, “Information Security Jumpstart Guide for Non-Profit Organizations

Blake is a wealth of knowledge, insight, and wisdom in a number of areas within our discipline, which includes how to operate and lead an effective IT team.  He is an excellent mentor and an example for us all.  He is also a wonderful and enthusiastic supporter of SIM and all of its members.

Blake is currently the CIO at BBG, a leading national due diligence commercial real estate service firm, located in Dallas.

Please join me in recognizing and welcoming Blake Holman as the newest SIM DFW Chapter Fellow.

Dr. Leon Kappelman, Fellows Chair

***********

The DFW Chapter of the Society of Information Management formed the Fellows in 2013 to focus the leadership and guidance of the Chapter’s most senior members.  To be considered for a Fellowship, SIM members must be a member in good standing of SIM for a minimum of 12 years, with the last five being in the DFW chapter.  Candidates must have three terms as a SIM board, committee, or program member, and participated in at least one SIM International activity.  Candidates who meet this criteria must first be vetted by the chapter’s Executive Board and their recommendations are then passed to the sitting Fellows for final consideration.  The current active SIM DFW Chapter Fellows are: Dr. Jack Becker, Nellson Burns, Kevin Campbell, John Cole, Chris Feola, Andrew Jackson, Debbie Jowers, Dr. Leon Kappelman, Janis O’Bryan, Dr. Ulrike Schultze, Caren Shiozaki, Mark Snyder, Mark Urbis, and Peter Vogel.  …and now, Blake Holman!

In total, the DFW Chapter Fellows represent over 339 years of SIM membership.
